Best Tutorial on Picasa (Official Professional Look)

In this tutorial you are going to get a quick overview of Picasa, the image management program from Google. This tutorial assumes you already have the program installed, if you don’t you can download it from “picasa.google.com”.

1- Scanning for Images

When you launch Picasa for the first time you will be asked whether you want to search for images. Here we are choosing to search the documents part of the computer. Click “Continue”. Once this process has finished click “Finish”, the time this takes will vary depending on the number of photos on your computer and its power.

2- Running a Slideshow

Now you will see some of the images on your computer. You can navigate easily through your computers images by clicking the folders on the left. Here we are just clicking on any folder and we can see its contents on the right. At the top of the frame we can view a slideshow of the images by clicking the play icon, the images will load full screen and you can use the arrow keys to scroll through them. Press escape to close the show.

3- Editing a Photo

Now let’s have a look at some more advanced features. Double click on one of the images that it being displayed and it will open in an editing area. On the left you can see some simple editing options, try one of these to see what it does to your photo. You can also find more options by clicking on the tabs at the top of this editing window.

4- Sharing Options

Finally, let’s have a look at the sharing options Picasa comes with. At the bottom of the window you will see a green share button. Click this and you will be promted to log into your Google account. You will then be able to share this on Google+, click “Upload” and the photo will be published. You are also able to email and print the image straight from Picasa. This has just been a quick introduction and overview of some of the most important features of Picasa.
