Dropbox is a popular Cloud storage that also offers innovative APIs and other features, so you can use Dropbox for a lot of purposes. One of the features it supports is hosting static web pages on the Cloud storage and making them available to the world.

Step 1: Use KISSr

“KISSr” is a service that lets you host static websites using Dropbox as a web host. The advantage of “KISSr” is that it lets you register and use a proper custom domain name instead of using sub-domains or long URLs. Open your browser and go to “www.kissr.com”. It will let you register a domain name with one click. So enter the name you want for your site and then click on “Create site”.

Step 2: Put your website in a Dropbox folder.

“KISSr” will ask you permission to create its own folder in your Dropbox account. You’ll be able to manage your entire website from a folder in your Dropbox. Press “Allow”.

Step 3: Your web hosting is available now

KISSr will synchronize a copy of your website to their web servers. You’ll see a message with your website direction and the link in the dropbox to edit it.

Step 4: Option 2: Use DropPages

A second option is to use “DropPages”, a web application that connects to your Dropbox account to create a site for you. The benefit of using this application is that it doesn’t restrict any space usage and gives you a subdomain to access your site. Follow the steps below to create your website with “DropPages”.

Step 5: Go to DropPages website

Open your browser and go to “my.droppages.com”. The site will ask you to sign into your Dropbox account. Click the “Sign in” button and give it permission to access your Dropbox account.

Step 6: Create a new website

In the new page, click on “Create a new site” button and enter the name of your site. Then press “Create”. You can edit your website from your Dropbox account. You can also pre-build themes of HTML pages.
